A client or a designated representative is REQUIRED to be present at the start of the move to sign legally required documents. Our crew will not start your move until these documents are signed.
The client/designee is also expected to remain on premise during the entire time our crew is performing services, both at the ‘loading location’ and ‘delivery location.’ This is necessary in order to provide the crew with instructions and to conduct a walk-through at the completion of loading and the completion of delivery.
If the client/designee is not present, or requests that the Bridges Bros crew return to either job site after the crew departs, an additional labor fee (minimum charge of 2-hours) will apply. The scheduling of this return trip will be subject to Bridges Bros Movers availability and return by a specific date cannot be guaranteed.
Booking Your Move
Your move date is not booked on the Bridges Bros schedule until you have received you quote, called our office and gone through the booking process. Signing your estimate confirms your agreement to our quote, but does NOT secure your dates.
‘Pre-booking’ prior to receiving a quote is only done under unique circumstances and requires approval of Bridges Bros ownership. A ‘pre-booking’ requires payment of a deposit and is taken with the understanding that Bridges Bros is reserving a specific number of crew members and trucks for your job without knowing the scope of the project and what assets will be required. If the project requires more crew members and/or trucks than were included in the pre-booking, it is possible that Bridges Bros may not have the additional capacity to perform the job. The deposit taken on a pre-booking is not refundable.
Deposit
A non-refundable deposit of 20% is required when booking your move dates. After booking, any reschedule to a later date will incur a fee of 50% of the deposit for EACH date being changed. No fee will be charged if date(s) are rescheduled to days earlier than the date originally booked.
For local moves, a deposit of $300 per day is required for each day of service being booked. (example: a job involving 1 day of packing and 1 day of moving requires a $600 deposit)
For interstate moves originating or delivering outside of New England, a deposit of $1500 is required.
Payment
Full payment for all services and materials is expected at the time of delivery. Payment can be made via cash, check or credit card. A 3% fee will be added to all credit card transactions. A $35 service fee will be charged for any check returned for insufficient funds.
Payment Methods
Bridges Bros accepts cash, check, money order, credit/debit cards and Venmo. A 3% processing fee is added to all credit/debit card and Venmo transactions due to fees charged to Bridges Bros by these payment processors.
Claim Filing Procedure
Bridges Bros Movers shall not be liable for the loss or destruction of, or damage to, the goods/articles tendered and moved and or stored hereunder, or any part thereof, unless a claim is made, in writing, to Bridges Bros Movers within thirty (30) days. To file a claim email info@movewithbridges.com or call 603-772-8200. Submitting a claim form initiates the claim resolution process.
Bridges Bros will NOT provide reimbursement for any repairs or replacement of items done outside of our claim resolution process, which includes the signing of a claim resolution agreement by the client.
No action will be taken by Bridges Bros Movers to resolve any claim until the client has made full payment for all services rendered. The intentional withholding of payment will be treated as a theft of services.
Arbitration
In compliance with Federal law, Bridges Bros Movers participats in an arbitraion program to help resolve disputed claims on household goods shipments. Arbitration is an alternative to court when clients and carriers cannot resolve of claim to the satisfaction of both parties. A team of retired judges and other experts working with our program review information about the dispute, submitted from both the shipper (you) and the carrier, and render a decision that is binding. Arbirtation does not use legal rules of evidence and is no conducted in a courtroom; it is designed to offer an alternative to the higher cost and longer process involved in filing a lawsuit and going to court. Before the arbitration process can be initiated, all other remedies through the Bridges Bros claim process must first be exhausted.
Non-Binding Estimate (Local/Intrastate Moves)
It is our goal to provide a realistic estimate based on the details that the client provides during the pre-move survey. Our Move Consultants utilize Visual Survey technology, along with their industry experience and some commonly accepted industry standards to calculate the amount of time, men, trucks materials and other equipment that a job will require, taking into account the size of the shipment and factors such as access, distance items must be carried, use of stairs/elevators, and other factors that may impact the amount of time a job will take. All estimates include time for disassembly & reassembly of furniture (as needed) and pad wrapping of furniture for protection, which are a standard part of our service.
Our objective is to complete your job in the time estimated, or less. However, there are a number of factors that can contribute to a job taking less or more time than anticipated. For that reason, this estimate is non-binding. The final billing for your job will be determined by the actual number of men, trucks and materials used and the hours worked by your crew, including all travel time, unless otherwise noted on this estimate. Bridges Bros reserves the right to modify the size of your crew to address staffing issues, changes in scope of work, etc.
Moves involving multi-tenant facilities, retirement communities and 3rd party storage facilities typically require more time due to longer carrying distances, use of shared hallways/elevators and other factors. While we do our best to account for these in our estimated hours, it is difficult to predict how much these factors will impact the time required to complete these jobs.
Binding Quotes & Additional Expenses
Any quote carrying the notation ‘binding’ has been provided based on the estimated weight of the shipment as detailed to the Estimator at the time of your survey. The final charges of a binding quote will not change, unless the contents of the shipment are increased or if there are unforeseen circumstances at the Origin or Destination (elevators, stairs, or required parking permits) Bridges Bros Movers reserves the right to bill for these additional expenses. The Shipper is responsible for payment of additional charges at time of delivery, unless the additional fees exceed 15% percent of all other charges due at delivery; in which case any remaining charges will be billed to the Shipper with payment due in 30 days.
Minimum Hours
Billed hours will not be less than 4 hours on a 'same day' move, or 4 hours per day on a 'multiple day' move, unless otherwise stated on your estimate.
Cancellations, Postponements and “Scope of Work” Reductions
A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking. The deposit required is $300 for each day being booked.
If all days of a booked job are postponed or cancelled, the full amount of the deposit paid is forfeited. If individual day(s) of a multi-day job are postponed or cancelled, the $300 deposit paid for each of those days is forfeited.
No fee is charged if a job is rescheduled to earlier date(s).
For any job that includes one or more dedicated “Packing” days, the client must notify Bridges Bros Movers at least 14 days in advance of any plans to significantly reduce the amount of packing to be done by our crew. This notification is required so that Bridges Bros Movers can adjust our staffing plan and send an appropriately sized crew to complete the project. If notice of a change/cancellation is not provided at least 14 days prior, the client will be responsible for paying the actual packing cost, or 75% of the total quoted packing fees, whichever is greater, regardless of the number of boxes that are actually packed by our crew.
Packaging for Transport
For liability reasons, Bridges Bros is unable to move any items that are not properly packaged for transport on a moving truck. All boxes & totes must have a cover/top and all boxes should be sealed with tape (not folded closed) to ensure structural stability. Pictures, mirrors, etc. must be boxed for protection. (Bubble wrap alone does not provide sufficient protection.)
Customer Packed & 3rd Party Packed Items: per Federal law, Bridges Bros Movers is not liable for damage to the contents of any boxes packed by the customer or outside parties. All boxes should be packed with sufficient paper/padding material and all ‘air space’ should be eliminated from boxes to fully protect the contents, avoid items shifting within the box and to prevent boxes from compressing under the weight of other boxes that may be stacked on them during the moving process or while in storage.
Boxes Packed by Bridges Bros Movers: any item packed by Bridges Bros Movers is covered by the ‘released’ or ‘full’ valuation coverage selected by the customer. Resolution for damage to any item(s) packed by Bridges Bros shall not exceed the selected coverage.
Televisions: all televisions must be packaged in their original box or packed appropriately for transport on a moving truck. Bridges Bros will provide television packaging as part of our service, for an additional fee, if requested prior to move day.
Oversized glass: any piece(s) of glass over 36-inches (ie, desktops, entertainment center shelves, etc) must be crated for the protection of the piece and safety of the moving crew. Items that are not 'move ready' may incur a packing charge or may not be possible for our crew to move.
Crating Charges
For any quote that includes a custom crating charge, the client must inform Bridges Bros Movers at the time of booking if they do not wish to have item(s) crated as quoted. Crates are built in advance of move day, so all crate charges will be applied to the final bill even if the crate is not used.
Crew & Truck Allocations
Bridges Bros Movers reserves the right to modify the number of crew members or trucks allocated to the client’s job should this become necessary for any reason, including labor laws, ‘Hours of Service’ regulations, staffing issues, weather concerns and other circumstances. These changes are made solely at the company’s discretion. Hourly rates on local moves will be adjusted to reflect the actual number of men and trucks allocated to the client’s move.
Winter conditions (Snow & Ice)
During time when snow and/or ice are present, it is solely the responsibility of the client to clear all driveways, walkways and access points of snow and to treat ice in these areas with salt and/or sand as appropriate to make the job site safe for the moving crew.
Bridges Bros reserves the right to cancel and reschedule any move if either the Origin or Destination site is deemed unsafe due to snow and/or ice. In the event of a rescheduling for this reason, the client will be charged for a 4-hour job at the quoted rate, consistent with Bridges Bros minimum billable hours policy detailed in this document.
In the event that Bridges Bros provides shoveling services and/or treats surfaces for snow and ice, the following fees will apply:
- $300/hr shoveling charge (1 hour minimum, charged by the ½ hour)
- $50 for salt treatment per surface or $50 per bag of salt used (whichever is greater)
Jewelry & Cash
Bridges Bros Movers will not accept responsibility for transporting jewelry, cash or cash equivalents (savings bonds, checkbooks, etc). These items must be transported by the Shipper.
Keys
Bridges Bros Movers will not take responsibility for holding keys of any type. This includes keys to homes, storage units, lock boxes or any other key used for any purpose. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that all keys have been removed from any item(s) that may be transported by our crew. It is also the client’s responsibility to make necessary arrangements for access to homes, storage units, etc. so that Bridges Bros Movers does not need to hold or handle any keys in the course of our work.
Site Protection
Standard site protection used by our crew on jobs is a door jam protector and a 12-foot rug runner placed in the primary entrance being used by the crew. Additional floor protection can be provided, but must be requested by the client at least 48 hours prior to their move date. Additional rug runners, carpet shield and other single-use floor protection products can be provided as needed (additional charges apply for carpet shield and single-use floor protection).
3/4 plywood can be provided as ground protection when needed. The client must request this at least 48 hours prior to the move and a fee will apply based on current lumber costs.
Clients living in multi-tenant facilities are responsible contacting their Property Manager to confirm any move-in and move-out requirements relating to site protection and must provide this information to Bridges Bros. Client also has the option to install their own floor protection prior to crew's arrival. For the safety of the crew, only rugs/runners with rubber backing, carpet shield or single-use floor protection products may be used and must be fully secured to floor/stair surface. Blankets, towels and similar may not be used for floor protection as they present a tripping hazard. Any protection applied to stairs must have an adhesive backing or be fully taped down on all edges.
For safety and liability reasons, our crews cannot remove their shoes when entering a property and cannot wear shoe covers/booties. If the client feels it necessary, Bridges Bros can provide a larger crew so that items can be carried to the entry by one crew member and passed to a crew member inside/outside the dwelling. The customer will be charged Bridges Bros standard hourly rate based on the number of crew members provided. The client must request this at the time of booking to ensure staff availability.
Storage Availability
Availability of storage at Bridges Bros storage facility is not guaranteed until your move is booked. If capacity is not available at time of booking, Bridges Bros will provide guidance on the amount of storage space required so that the client can reserve storage at a 3rd party 'self storage' facility. The amount of time required to complete delivery into a self-storage facility may be longer than the time listed in the estimate, especially if the client reserves an interior unit or a unit on an upper floor of the facility.
Insurance & Liability for Items Stored in Bridges Bros Facilities
All property held in storage at a Bridges Bros facility is stored at the sole risk of the property owner. The property owner is entirely responsible for insuring all property while in storage. Bridges Bros Movers is not responsible for insuring any property stored in our facilities or on our properties. To the extent that the property owner does not obtain insurance coverage for the full value of their property being stored, they personally assume the risk of any and all losses, including but not limited to burglary, fire, flood, earthquake, vandalism, vermin or collapse.
Bridges Bros will not be responsible for any and all losses, liability claims, expenses or damage to property being stored, including without limitation any loss arising from active or passive acts of omission or negligence of the property owner.
Property owner shall indemnify and hold harmless Bridges Bros Movers from any and all losses including, but not limited to, all claims, damages, losses and expenses, including attorney's fees, arising from a loss incurred by the property owner and/or any persons, authorized or unauthorized, by property owner.
Bridges Bros shall inventory all items being taken into storage, but individual contents of packed boxes will not be itemized. It is recommended that the property owner document with pictures all non-furniture items of significant value to ensure documentation, should there be a need to file a claim for missing items.
Rental Moving Pads for 3rd Party Storage
For clients whose shipments are delivered into a 3rd party storage facility (any storage facility not owned by Bridges Bros Movers) we offer rental moving pads to protect furniture and other items while in storage. The client is charged a one-time rental fee and a refundable deposit which is returned when the pads are returned to Bridges Bros. The client has the option to decline use of rental pads, but is then required to sign a waiver of liability to have our crew place their shipment into storage without proper protection.
Safety
Bridges Bros Movers reserves the right to refuse to provide any service that it deems unsafe, unreasonable, unsanitary or hazardous to employees, equipment or if attempting that service may pose a damage risk to the client’s shipment or dwelling. If the move must be cancelled or postponed for any of these reason, the client will incur a charge of 4 hours on an hourly move or 50% of the quoted fees on a long-distance (interstate) move.
Difficult Access
Due to narrow/tight areas or physical obstructions, it may be difficult to get a piece of furniture into or out of an area without causing damage to the article or the home. In such situations, the crew leader will communicate the concern to the Shipper. If attempting to move the item is deemed not be a safety risk to the moving team, and with signed consent of the Shipper, the movers will make an attempt to move the article. In these situations, Bridges Bros Movers will not be responsible for any damage that may occur to the article or the property. This includes, but is not limited to damage to walls, floors, bannisters, doorways, light fixtures, fans, sprinklers, etc.
Wall Attachments and Fixtures
Bridges Bros Movers will not remove any screws, bolts, or items from any wall. This includes TV Mounts, light fixtures, chandeliers, shelving, cabinets, and any other item(s) that are attached to a wall. It is your responsibility to have everything ready for transportation prior to the arrival of the crew. Bridges Bros Movers also will not attach or hang anything on any wall. This includes pictures, mirrors and/or any type of item listed above.
Parking Considerations
If our truck(s) will use a shared parking lot during the course of the client’s move, if a parking permit is required or if a public elevator will be utilized, it is the client's responsibility to make these arrangements in advance. (If reserving a parking location, please ensure the space is large enough to accommodate a 26-foot box truck with at least 15 feet of open space behind the truck to allow for the 'walk board.')
Pianos & Grandfather Clocks
Regardless of how carefully they are moved, pianos and grandfather clocks will typically require professional tuning after being moved. Bridges Bros Movers shall not be responsible for the functionality of any piano or grandfather clock, as this condition is not evaluted or confirmed prior to moving these items. Bridges Bros is not be responsible for any cost relating the tuning of pianos or grandfather clocks after being moved.
When preparing a grandfather clock to be moved, Bridges Bros Movers will remove and package the weights and pendulum from the clock, but will not reinstall after delivery. Reinstallation must be done by a trained technician.
When preparing a baby grand piano to be moved, Bridges Bros Movers will remove and package the dehumidifier (if applicable) but will not reinstall after delivery. Reinstallation must be done by a trained technician.
Cribs
Bridges Bros Movers will not disassemble or reassemble cribs under any circumstances. We will move cribs that have been previously disassembled.
Mechanical adjustable beds
Clients are asked to provide the user's manual to the bed if disassembly is required. Due to the technical nature of these units and the various makes & models, Bridges Bros cannot be responsible for correctly disassembly and re-assembly if a manual is not provided.
Memory Foam Mattresses
It is the client’s responsibility to notify the moving crew about any memory foam mattresses that are included in their shipment, as these mattresses require special handling. This includes Tempur-pedic® as well as all other brands of memory foam mattress. Bridges Bros Movers cannot be liable for any mattress that become mis-shaped in transport/storage if client does not identify the mattress as being a memory foam mattress.
Water & Gas Lines
Bridges Bros Movers will not disconnect or reconnect any water lines or gas lines. It is the responsibility of the Shipper to make arrangements for all water and gas lines to be disconnected prior to move day.
Refrigerators & Freezers
The client is solely responsible for ensuring that all refrigerators/freezers to be moved have been completely thawed and dried out prior to being moved. Bridges Bros is not responsible for any damage caused by water that may leak out of these appliances onto the Shipper’s shipment or dwelling.
Bridges Bros is also not responsible for any mold that develops inside of a ‘wet’ appliance. For refrigerators/freezers being placed into storage it is strongly recommended that the client put a moisture absorbing product like ‘DampRid’ into the unit prior to be placed into storage.
Removal of Refrigerator or Oven Doors
Due to internal wiring and water line connections, Bridges Bros will not remove doors from refrigerators or ovens. Removal must be handled by a 3rd party service provider or by the client. (Bridges Bros will remove refrigerator and door handles if required to gain entry/exit)
“Interactive” Exercise Mirrors
Manufacturer recommendations and warranty policies state that interactive exercise mirrors should only be uninstalled, moved and re-installed by specialty relocation companies that have been certified by the manufacturer. If the client requests that Bridges Bros handle relocation, the client will be required to sign a waiver of liability stating that Bridges Bros is not responsible for any damage to the mirror. It will also be required that the mirror be custom crated and uninstalled/reinstalled by a 3rd party service provider.
Item Functionality
Bridges Bros Movers is not liable for the functionality of any electrical or mechanical device, unless there is visible outward damage that can be directly correlated to the moving of the item. This includes, but is not limited to, computers, refrigerators, televisions, stereos, washing machines, dryers, etc. In no case is the carrier liable due to the inherent vice nature of any article being moved. Bridges Bros Movers reserves the right to refuse to disassemble/reassemble any item if doing so may result in a loss of functionality or performance.
Storage Units & Moving Containers
Bridges Bros cannot not take responsibility for loss or damage to items once they are delivered into 3rd party storage units or moving containers, because we are no longer able to control access to the shipment. Any claims must be reported by the Shipper at the completion of the move into storage/container before the move team departs. (Exception: Shipper may request that Bridges Bros install a security tag that prevents access to the unit/container. This request must be made at least 48 hours prior to your move.)
Miscalculation on Invoice, Contract or Forms
If a calculation error is identified by Bridges Bros Movers on any bill, invoice or contract after payment is collected, the customer is liable for paying the actual charges and time that the bill should have reflected. This policy applies regardless of what the invoice, contract, or other written form states, if it directly contradicts itself based on the totals of the (A) moving time between the arrival and finished time, (B) discount time if any, (C) travel time, (D) fuel charge, (E) materials if any, (F) storage if any, (G) or any other charges listed on said form that do not calculate to the correct grand total. Customer hereby agrees to make payment within five (5) days of notification to reconcile the billing discrepancy.

If there be any claims or litigation concerning the property, the Shipper agrees to pay all storage and other charges, and agrees to indemnify the Mover for all costs, expenses, and attorney’s fees that the Mover may reasonably incur or become liable to pay in connection therewith. (B) All goods upon which the Mover has a lien are subject to sale at auction to satisfy any and all unpaid charges, including interest as hereinabove provided, which charges are not paid when due, plus the expense for preservation of the goods reasonably incurred in the sale, advertising, as well as any legal expenses, including reasonable attorney’s fees, which may be necessitated by said sale. (C) The lien upon any and all property tendered with the Mover shall also include unpaid charges and expenses pertaining to property previously tendered with the Mover, regardless of whether said property has been delivered by the Mover. (D) The parties agree that in any sale conducted to satisfy the Mover lien, all property which is subject to the lien shall be sold. Proceeds of sale, in excess of charges secured by the lien, plus the cost of preserving the goods and conducting the sale, shall be remitted to the Shipper. (E) The Mover may, at its option, bring suit for reimbursement pursuant to the foregoing provisions without first foreclosing upon this lien. (F) The Mover shall be presumed to have acted in good faith and in a reasonable and commercially acceptable manner when or if it seeks to enforce its lien pursuant to the appropriate provisions of the States Uniform Commercial Code, as adopted in New Hampshire and/or relevant Statutes.
Your Rights and Responsibilities Booklet for Interstate Moves
In accordance with the rules of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Bridges Bros Movers is required to ensure that the Shipper has been given access to the booklet “Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move.” This booklet can be found at www.fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move/consumer-rights.
Entire Agreement/Severability
This agreement represents the entire Contract between the parties hereto and cannot be modified except in writing, signed by the Shipper and an officer of Bridges Bros Movers. The agreement shall be deemed to apply to all property of any and all nature or description which the Mover may now or at any time in the future pack or ship for the Shipper’s account. If any paragraph or portion thereof is found to be unenforceable for any reason, it shall not affect the remainder of this Contract, then said Contract shall be fully enforceable and shall govern the rights and responsibilities of the parties.
